# Tracker Assembly

Assemble the trackers using the batteries, screws, and cases.

Follow these steps to assemble each of your trackers. This should take roughly 30 minutes total, even going slow.

## Step 1: Read the guide first!

- **Before assembling your first tracker read all of the steps in this guide**!

- I know you likely want to ignore this and start building your first one, but I can assure you that reading through each step in the guide first will make it much easier for you to build your trackers without any confusion.

- The instructions in later steps will likely answer questions that you might have when doing the earlier steps.

## Step 2: Gather Parts

- Grab all of the parts to assemble one tracker along with your Philips #1 Screwdriver.

- **You will need:** 1 x Tracker Board 1 x Battery (903035 w/ PH2.0 connector) 2 x M2 8mm Screws (Self Tapping), included in Kit 1 x Tracker Case 1 x Tracker Label Lid 1 x Tracker Power Switch

- The 3D printing kit comes with 10 labels, but you will only need 8 of them. We suggest building the following trackers based on how many trackers you bought! **REQUIRED** - 2 x Ankle Trackers - 2 x Thigh Trackers - 1 x Chest Tracker **6 Tracker** - 1 x Hip Tracker **8 Tracker** - 2 x Upper Arm Tracker (Recommended) **OR** - 2 x Foot Tracker

## Step 3: Prepare Battery

- **Note:** Grab your battery and prepare it by pre-bending the wire into the right shape for later. These bends will puts the connector exactly where it needs to be to connect to the tracker board and will make it easier to do Step 6.

- Start by placing the battery like you see in Image 1 with the wire coming out of the Right side of the battery. Bend the wire so that it goes towards the Left to match the first image

- Bend the wire to match Image 2 by adding a bend back towards the left when the wire is in the center of the battery.

- Bend the wire to match Image 3 by adding a bend so that the connector points at the Top Left corner of the battery.

## Step 4: Place Battery & Power Switch in Case

- Place the battery into the tracker case so that the wire is on the side with the opening for the USB-C port.

- Insert the Power Switch into the case.

## Step 5: Connect Battery

- Connect the battery to the tracker board, supporting the back/top of the connector on the board while you push the battery connector into the slot.

- **Note:** If you **did not** buy batteries from **OpenPaw Labs** and your batteries **do not** have a connector you will need to solder them to the battery pads on the back of the board. Red goes to (**+**), and Black goes to (**-**)

- **Caution:** If you bought batteries with a connector from somewhere **other than OpenPaw Labs** you need make sure that the **connector is wired correctly**! Third party batteries sometimes come with the **wires reversed** and will **damage your tracker** if not fixed. The Red Wire (**+**) needs to be on the **LEFT side** of the connector. The Black Wire (**-**) needs to be on the **RIGHT side** of the connector.

## Step 6: Insert Tracker at Angle

- **Caution:** Make sure to insert the board at an angle like shown. Take care to not catch the switch on the lip above the switch opening. **Inserting it at this angle minimizes the risk that you might accidentally break off the power switch later on Step 8 when you push the tracker board down into place!**

- Insert the tracker board at an angle, **align the power switch on the tracker with the slot on the 3D printed power switch.**

- This leaves the battery wire accessible for the next step.

## Step 7: Fold Battery Wire In

- While you hold the tracker at an angle, use your finger to bend the battery wire directly downwards behind the connector.

- Fold the wire into the gap at the end of the case. The bends you did on Step 2 should make the wire already aligned properly.

## Step 8: Push Down Tracker Board

- **Caution:** **ALWAYS double check** that the switch on the board is properly aligned with the 3D printed switch and that it is not caught on the wall lip! **The switch WILL break off if it is misaligned and force is applied!** **NEVER force the board down into place!**

- Keep the board at an angle so that you can see the battery wire and power switch, then **gently** push the board down until it is resting all the way in the case.

- Adjust the battery wire as needed to keep it out of the way.

## Step 9: Screw in Tracker Board

- Use a Philips Screwdriver (#1) to screw the tracker board down with 2 x **M2 8mm self tapping screws** that came with your tracker kit.

- Continue to tighten the screws until the board is securely connected down and you feel them come to a stop.

- **Note:** The screws take a little bit of force to get screwed in the first time. The included self-tapping screws will "cut" a thread into the plastic when they are first screwed in.

## Step 10: Attach Case Lid

- Grab the tracker label/lid and align it with the Battery Connector.

- Align the notch at the top of the tracker case with the notch on the tracker label/lid.

- Push the tracker lid directly down into place until it comes to a stop. It should fit snugly in the tracker case.

- **Note:** It can take some force to get the label to fit snugly down into place. If you are having issues, put the lid on partially then place the tracker upside down on a table with the label facing downwards, then push the tracker down into the table to force the label into place.

## Step 11: Repeat for all trackers

- Repeat until all of your trackers have been assembled!
